My first formal death notification training
Many of the points in this presentation I learned the hard way over the years. This was very informative and I wish I would have had it 35 years ago.
Holley

I never saw the proof of watch in the video, and had to take the test three times to get it right. Then in the specialized notification videos training there was a picture and of course no test.
Johnny
Death Notification
Very good course and informative. The subject brings to a higher level than what many would think or do in death notification.

Proper Death Notification Procedures Course - The Gem of All Courses
This was the best course regarding notification of death I've ever seen, including live and virtual lectures in death investigation, and in medical education-medical training I've attended. It's almost universal that no one likes to talk about death, especially when you are the one who has to notify someone's next of kin about it. Very difficult topic to cover. Excellent resources, especially the one with best practices in notification (i.e. do in person, in pairs, timely with certainty, and in plain language, etc...; an aside, when I think of death notification gone awry in the case of wrong next of kin notification, I think of the scene in "Saving Private Ryan"..."James Francis Ryan from Iowa? No. James Frederick Ryan from Minnesota")
Darrin
Missing Animal
I did not see the animal during the presentation at all, and I am positive that I watched the entire video and took copious notes.
Jayreen
accurately describes content
Was appropriate for both law enforcement and nursing as well
Tammy R
Informative
Hannah
Confused by the Watch Images
I've watched all of the videos (besides looking away to take notes), but I never saw the first watch image (the cat - unless this was on another course), but I saw the second watch image (an ambulance) that was never asked about after the first quiz. Other than that, very informative and I feel a lot more confident in making my first death notification!
Rubette
Proper Death Notification Procedures
This course was informative.
Robert
Again title fits the education

Melanie
Notification to next of kin in details
I've learned a lot from this class. I feel confident that I can apply at my place of employment
Ellen
great info
well done. my background is nursing (ER and ICU) and the guidance here resonated for me. I agree and am glad to hear (for both staff and survivors) that the move is to provide education for those performing notifications.
Torey
Proper Death Notification Procedures
Great job
Jacqueline
Great Course!
Esteban
Great subject!
My opinion only. Bullet points on Special Groups slides were too long as well as talking points. I believe having videos of role play showing the correct way and improper way of notification would be more engaging.
Bill
EXCELLENT TOPIC, ONE THAT DESERVES EVEN MORE ATTENTION.
I did not notice the proof of watch that was in this presentation. Not sure why....
Justin
Great info
Great info on notification.
Wendy
Death Notification Procedures course
Great resources with practical and kind approaches for death notification.
Jerome
Appropriate for the content.
Wordy and redundant. Much of this presentation was recycling what had already been said.
Kelsey
Proper Death Notification Procedures
Lots of considerate information provided that is great to put to use on the job
Olivia
Proper Death Notification
A few of the questions, in my opinion, were worded incorrectly. One question stated that in-person was the most important, yet that wasn’t even an available answer. The identification question was not explained as if this was regarding death notification only or in general. This question was not clearly made in the videos and caused more confusion in the quiz. Additionally, I watched all the videos twice but could not identify what I assume is the "proof of watch," which was mentioned as a cat. I’m unsure where this proof appears in your video. The only "proof of watch" I noticed was in the second half of these videos and in the prerequisite videos, where an ambulance was shown. Student was unable to ask questions that made sense, frequently confusing portions of one question with answers of another. Once it was pointed out that her questions made no sense, she got angry, stating that it must be something wrong with her computer and that she wouldn't contact the academy again. However, she was again asking nonsensical questions shortly after.
Patrick
Deputy Coroner
This program was extremely helpful to me. Being part of a rural volunteer fire department I have had to make death notifications. There is no easy way to tell someone that they have lost a member of their family.
Timothy
Awesome course
This course provided several alternatives on how to deliver a death notification that I have not used in the past. Another great, informative course.

Too much too fast
This segment was too much information per slide, presented at too rapid a pace. The first course where I really wanted the slides as a handout, but did not have them. Also, there was no cat image in the first set of videos, and you never asked about the ambulance image in the second set of videos. This is probably the topic I felt least prepared for coming into this class. This course helped, but it could have been broken out more into sub topics, presented more slowly, and with less jargon. For example, if you're going to say "OIS" either say or write out what that stands for. Don't make me puzzle it out while the presenter is talking.
Allison
Image Issue
I know that there is a hidden image in the videos, however I did not see one in any I watched. I watched each video twice. The first time I would pause and take notes, but the second time I just watched. I did not see an animal at all, so when that question popped up I had to guess. I did notice a small gray star on the "With Compassion" slide, that I'm wondering was supposed to be animal, but if not then I really don't know where the animal was supposed to show up. That could still be on me for not watching closely enough (but again, I watched each video twice) but it was the only downside to the course. Otherwise I found it quite helpful!
